I love Rapa Nui.
I've loved the Moai since I was a kid. I've been wanting to go here ever since I first saw them.
I've also thought that this would be my number 1 perfect Honeymoon spot. I haven't changed my mind in 20 years, so I must be right.
You say, "Learn to play a WHAT?!"
You already know what this instrument is, you just don't see it yet.
Listen to this:
I've always wanted to tromp around Belfast, Northern Ireland, seeking out lost alleyways and finding walls of beautiful and mostly-political artwork...then make a great photo journal out of them. The IRA, UDA, UFF all have their 'portraits' scattered around town presenting a visual history of turmoil and strife....and visual cries for peace.
This one is a Catalan independentist mural in Republican district in Belfast.
The Color Run happens in almost every major city in the US. You start out the run (or walk, if you please) with a white t-shirt...And you finish it as a miniature rainbow. It's totally unique and looks like loads of fun. Check it out: http://thecolorrun.com/about/
I want to have my own field of poppies. I grew up with poppies in the yard (though not this particular type...we had antique double- and triple-bloom poppies, like the one I have tattooed on my arm.) and miss seeing their bright colours everywhere.
I'd also like a field full of them as a memorial of sorts...
"Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields."
The damage done to the landscape in Flanders during the battle greatly increased the lime content in the soil, leaving the poppy as one of the few plants able to grow in the region...
Yes, it's also tempting to want to visit Flanders to see the cemeteries. That would be a bit of a solemn visit, though.
I've always had this image in my head of taking a 4th generation El Camino...and turning it into a WWII bomber. Kind of like the B-25J, actually. Not this particular one, but similar.
I won't give the design ideas away, but suffice to say there will be some heavy modding (and heavy bankruptcy) going on.
I've been sketching out plans for my ancient RPG character's costume since I was 12. Her story has gotten so long and I've been attempting to tie it in, chronologically, with all the wars and whatnot that have gone on in the Star Wars universe since.
She's got quite a few cool accessories and her outfit would look nothing like the one pictured....but first I either need to enslave a seamstress or learn how to sew.
Which, at this stage in my life, is a lost cause.
I will be a sheep farmer.
I will have many sheep.
That is all.
Colour me crazy, but I think this language sounds beautiful.
I never was one to go for Italian or French or any other 'romance language.' Give me guttural or give me death!
As if learning Arabic wasn't complicated enough, I want to take on Russian. Yes, Russian - with its crazy alphabet and everything.
This one is probably NEVER gonna happen, but I'm not going to rule out the possibility completely.
Hey, the new Popemobile is a hybrid!
Not to mention to colourful Swiss Guard! Lovely pantaloons, fellows.
(Maybe they'll let me drive the Popemobile and I can kill two bucket list birds with one stone, eh?)
I've never ridden a horse that wasn't pre-steered.
I would like to race across the land and form a bond with a horse. At this point, though, I'm only qualified to ride a Clydesdale.
Camping under the Northern Lights would be ideal....so long as I slept in the daytime. I wouldn't want to sleep through the prettyfulness.
It was loads of fun when I was in my single digits. I'd like to do it again, and soon.
But this time, I don't think I'll leave the keys a mile up a mountainside....
BAM! I accomplished this bucket list item in 2014! To see the photos, scroll down!
Great Wall of China (Check!)
Christ the Redeemer (Check!)
Great Pyramid of Giza (Honorary Candidate, and Check!)
It's pretty scary to journey down the Amazon in a canoe - I'll admit it, I'm more freaked out by the plethora of diseases than the pirahnas....but who could resist? I want a shot of a blue morpho!
I know he's a fictional character. And sure, I've already spent an accumulated years in Oz....
But I want the real-life equivalent to take me on a tour of the wilds of Australia.
...or at least the part where he's devastatingly accurate with a longbow.
What better way to avoid international DUIs than to do a pub crawl across Ireland by bicycle?
(Unless, wait...Are there rules in Ireland about cycling while intoxicated? Maybe I'll have to make it a shot of Guinness at every pub. lol)
*silence* to better understand the meaning of a whisper.
I went at the wrong time of year to see the cherry blossoms. I'd like to go and watch them bloom...and then flutter to the ground. Maybe in Hirosaki.
I never really did come to grips with the death of my friends. I think it was probably because so many of them died in so short a timespan, I didn't have time to emotionally catch up.
Forget Disney. Forget multi-story cruise ships with pools and tennis courts.
I want to go on a cruise....on a pirate ship.
My dream house is currently sitting on graph paper in a storage unit.
It keeps gaining dimensions, though. I need an architect to become indebted to me.
The sheep are important.
I do want a working farm, though, so I can be perfectly sustainable.
Naturally my farm would need a lot of tractors.
I grew up with a Super-C and have loved antique FarmAlls ever since. They're real workhorses.
En garde! Passe arrière! Coupé! Contre-riposte!
My technique can currently be reduced to "Find shiniest lure. Hope for best."
I'd like to know what works best when and where.
I'd love to spend some time with a tribe in Africa. Learn how they live, speak, eat...
During that time, I'd also locate the One Ring.
I once began a novel...I think I was 21 at the time. It last had 344 pages.
I moved around a lot...and it moved around with me. Until, after one 1500-mile-long move - it disappeared.
And it's not as if I can just retrieve a backup file. I do all my creative writing on a typewriter.
I'm sure it's sitting in a storage unit right now waiting for me to go through my stuff and find it...Until then, I have the next 10 chapters all in my head.
UPDATE 2016: I got the "Find" part down! It was packed away in a bunch of bathroom trinkets from six apartments ago!
I want to learn to sail, as they did in the 18th and 19th centuries.
An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
I can sing. I have a low range for a woman, but I can sing.
The only problem is....I go from having a strong voice on my own to having a shaky, uncertain voice when there are other people around. (Unless I'm fully loaded with alcohol - then I sing just fine in front of people. I have video evidence somewhere.)
I'd like that to go away.
Despite having faithfully voted in every single local, state and federal election (even a handful of international elections), I have never voted in a presidential primary. Why?
We registered Independents have never been able to do this.
Though, knowing my luck...This would probably happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_EIGI9qFp4
I <3<3 tuna fish sandwiches. A giant one would make me two years worth of sandwiches.
Probably improbable, but....that girl on NCIS did it! *whine*
(Okay, so not really, but still...)
The only reason I haven't done this yet is the fact that every instructor I've found teaches you...so long as you play in the parades/festivals with them.
I don't want to play my bagpipes in front of loads of people.
I just want to be able to do Scotland the Brave from a mountaintop. All. By. Myself.
